WeJot vs WJX

WJX has been building forms for two decades. The library is large, the editions are clear, and exams and assessments come with it, so a conventional survey lands safely there. WeJot does something else: the agent writes question types and logic as code, and once the survey closes you can interview the same respondents.

Instrument freedom Sample pricing AI interviews Fieldwork quality control

The 30-second verdict

Both platforms collect responses. The difference lies in instrument freedom and how far a study can go. WJX draws question types from a preset library and stays on the survey and exam side; WeJot generates types and logic, and continues into AI interviews with the same respondents once fieldwork closes. On sample, the same 19-question study with women 50+ and 100 completes came to RMB 2,289 against RMB 260.

  • Question types: WJX ships 90-plus presets. WeJot writes them as code, including the ones a library does not carry.
  • Logic: WJX is configured through panels. WeJot takes a sentence and executes conditions, randomisation and dynamic visibility as code.
  • Fieldwork: same 19-question study, women 50+, 100 completes. RMB 2,289 at WJX against RMB 260 at WeJot.
  • Qualitative: both platforms run interviews. WJX offers human depth interviews, group sessions and in-home visits through its sample service, plus an AI interview mode that generates the guide and moderates the conversation. WeJot differs in form and integration: voice, video and text, resumable sessions, on-camera interaction and emotion analysis, with interviews on the same sample as the survey and both results in one report.
  • Delivery: both platforms allow individual responses to be viewed and exported, and WJX adds response-source analysis. WeJot differs in the report itself: each conclusion is attached to the question and the response behind it, and interview conclusions link back to the recorded clip.

Why this comparison exists

WJX is the first survey tool many teams ever used. Its edge is not one feature but two decades of maturity: plenty of templates, careful quota management, clear enterprise tiers, and adjacent modules for exams and 360 reviews.

The product assumes a questionnaire is assembled in a UI: question types from a preset library, logic from a settings panel, capacity and collaboration from a higher edition. That works well for conventional surveys. The cost shows up when a study needs an interaction the library lacks. You fall back to the nearest type and absorb the measurement error yourself.

WeJot replaces that assumption. Question types, logic, routing and presentation are written at generation time, so the questionnaire matches the research goal. The same agent stays on, and once fieldwork closes it can interview the same sample to answer what a summary table cannot.

Where the two differ

1

Question types: how many can you actually use

WJX

WJX states 90-plus question types covering single choice, multiple choice, matrix, scales, ranking, rating and file upload, one of the broader libraries in China. The ceiling is just as clear: an interaction the library does not carry cannot appear on the page.

WeJot

WeJot generates the survey page itself, so a question type is implemented rather than selected. Conjoint, Kano, MaxDiff, card sorting, quadrant drag-and-drop, image hotspots and conditional visual questions can all be produced, with their data structures and analysis contract written at the same time.

2

Logic: how complex rules are set up

WJX

Every rule at WJX lives in the interface: jumps, association, piping, quota, randomisation, each switched on individually. What you see is what runs, and it is hard to get wrong.

WeJot

WeJot takes a sentence, such as "if they chose A and rated question three below 4, jump to the follow-up page and shuffle the options", and executes it as code. Complex rules stop being limited by how many controls a panel offers. The trade-off is real: logic lives in code, and it should be walked through with test responses before launch.

3

Sample: how the price is calculated

WJX

WJX prices by length and label, with audience labels as the main cost driver and sizeable uplifts for scarce groups; below 200 completes it adds a surcharge and invoice tax.

WeJot

WeJot also prices by length and label, starting at RMB 0.8 per base demographic label with scarcer labels stepping up, and with no membership gate or small-volume surcharge; the quote is visible before ordering.

4

Sample ordering: what you can configure

WJX

WJX concentrates its panel capability on quoting by length and label, with both self-serve ordering and a consultant-led quote route available. Self-serve ordering does not support quota, ratio or multi-wave tracking.

WeJot

WeJot treats self-serve fieldwork as one set: audience labels, crossed and independent quota, start and end times with daily windows, pause and resume, full-quota alerts, identity and liveness checks, longitudinal waves with automatic gap filling, and connected overseas panels. There is one screen to configure it on.

5

How the survey and the interview connect

WJX

WJX goes deep on the quantitative side and covers neighbouring scenarios such as exams and assessments. On the interview side it has two offerings: human one-to-one depth interviews, group sessions and in-home visits inside its sample service, and an AI interview mode that generates the guide through dialogue, with six selectable voices, breakpoint resume and automatic translation of other languages.

WeJot

WeJot keeps both ends in one project. The survey establishes what is happening; respondents from the same pool who opt in then run an AI voice or video interview to explain why. Both kinds of evidence sit in one report, and each conclusion links back to its source.

6

Quality control: how quality is ensured

WJX

WJX offers fine-grained controls on the survey side: submission limits per account, device and IP, pre-entry verification, duration rules, and real-person verification on some editions, refined over two decades of large-scale fieldwork.

WeJot

WeJot works on both layers. On the panel side: identity and liveness checks, security verification, attention checks, location limits, in-session supervision, logic consistency, clustering limits and history-based exclusion of repeat respondents. On the survey side: crossed and independent quota, with progress, timing and daily windows visible as they run.

Feature-by-feature

Competitor capabilities come from their own sites and help centers. Sample prices come from quoting the same questionnaire on the same day.

Why choose WeJot over WJX?

The questions that arise most often during an evaluation, answered directly.

Question types that are not capped by a library

Ninety-plus question types covers conventional surveys. When a study needs an interaction the library lacks, the nearest type becomes the compromise, and the researcher absorbs the error. WeJot generates the type and its execution logic on the spot, so conjoint, Kano, MaxDiff, card sorting and image hotspots are available with their data structures defined up front.

Survey and interviews in one report

WJX has both an AI interview mode and human depth interviews inside its sample service, so both routes exist. WeJot differs in form and integration: voice, video and text, resumable sessions, voice selection, on-camera interaction and emotion analysis, with anyone who opted in during the survey invited directly and interview findings sitting beside the survey data in one report. After fieldwork, regression, reliability and validity analysis, cross-tabs and clustering run in the same conversation, and deliverables come out as Word, Excel, PPT, PDF or HTML on request.

No hidden ceilings on responses, exports or quota

A WJX survey caps at 100,000 completes (30,000 for polls), quota rules stop applying beyond 50,000 completes and a survey is limited to 50 active rules, and Word/PDF response export is batch-limited to 2,000 on the free edition. WeJot sets no response ceiling, no quota expiry threshold, and generates exports and deliverables on demand, with a data export for further modelling in SPSS or similar.

After fieldwork, analysis and delivery stay in one place

Once responses are in, regression, reliability and validity analysis, cross-tabs and clustering run in the same conversation, with conclusions, charts and deliverables produced together: Word, Excel, PPT, PDF or HTML on request, or a data export for further modelling in SPSS or similar. Survey, interviews and data stay in one project, and every step is traceable.

Frequently asked

Are the question types really open-ended?

Yes, and the boundary is the browser plus the data layer: anything that can be rendered and recorded as clean structured data can be generated. Conjoint, Kano, MaxDiff, card sorting, image hotspots and conditional visual questions all fall inside it.

How hard is it to move over from WJX?

Collect the wording and the logic, and the agent rebuilds it, which is also a good moment to fix the question types. Keep in-flight fieldwork where it is and start new projects here.

Why is the sample cheaper, and what protects quality?

The gap is mostly in the billing structure, not the respondents. Demographic labels are a flat RMB 0.8 each, with no membership gate and no small-volume surcharge, while traditional platforms scale the label price with scarcity. Quality comes from identity and liveness checks, security verification, attention checks, location limits, in-session supervision and history-based exclusion; invalid completes are not counted.

How large is your panel?

The mainland pool holds more than five million registered users across major provinces and city tiers, and respondent authenticity has been verified through video interview work. Overseas coverage comes from several connected international panels. Composition changes, so the live match at order time is what counts.

Can interviews sit in the same project as the survey?

Yes, and it is the clearest difference from an interview-only tool. Survey and interviews share one sample, one research goal and one report; respondents who opted in can be invited directly, and the findings sit on the same page.

Do you support on-premise deployment?

We are SaaS-first. If a project requires local deployment, contact us to assess scope and timing.
