WeJot vs Trooly

Trooly and WeJot overlap heavily on the interview side, and Trooly is unusual in publishing prices. Two differences matter most: Trooly’s boundary is the interview while ours is the whole study, and the two diverge sharply on end-to-end pricing, owned sample and self-serve access.

The 30-second verdict

Both publish interview prices, under different structures: Trooly charges a flat rate per session or per person, with recruitment and incentives bundled end to end; WeJot bills linearly per minute with labels priced per item. For the same 45-minute end-to-end interview it is RMB 148.5 against USD 99. Scope also differs: WeJot keeps the survey and the AI interview in one project.

  • End-to-end price: for a 45-minute voice interview, Trooly charges USD 99 per person (about RMB 708, including recruitment and incentives) against RMB 148.5 at WeJot.
  • Billing: Trooly charges a flat rate per interview, USD 10 or 19 with your own respondents, and does not itemise labels. WeJot bills linearly per minute with label and filter tiers applied at half rate.
  • Quantitative: Trooly is an interview platform. WeJot runs survey and interview in one project, and survey results decide who gets interviewed.
  • Sample: Trooly states over 180 million respondents across 25 countries, with recruitment included end to end. WeJot runs its own mainland pool and connects to overseas panels.
  • Quality guarantee: Trooly states that respondents failing quality checks are replaced at no cost, a public commitment we do not yet make and one worth raising in procurement.

Why this comparison exists

Trooly publishes more than most peers: three to five times faster recruitment, 60% lower cost than traditional recruitment, over 180 million global respondents across 25 countries, delivery twelve times faster than agencies, and 400+ teams using it. Its guidance is concrete too, such as four interviews per segment and no minimum order.

Its boundary is the interview. Trooly answers how to complete a depth interview faster and cheaper, not how common something is in a population. That needs a survey, and the cost structures differ entirely: interviews scale by person and minute, surveys by complete and length. Substituting one for the other usually means shrinking the sample until the conclusion cannot hold.

WeJot joins the two ends in one agent: the survey reaches the population cheaply and identifies who deserves a deeper conversation, then AI interviews dig for causes among those people, sharing one pool and one report. The interview side is built out as well: resumable sessions, on-camera interaction, emotion analysis and clip export.

Where the two differ

1

Price: two billing structures, two bands

Trooly

Trooly publishes its prices: a flat rate per session for bring-your-own respondents, and a flat rate per person for end-to-end delivery including recruitment and incentives, with a higher tier for audiences below 1% prevalence.

WeJot

WeJot bills per minute with label and filter tiers on top, so the price scales linearly with duration. For the same 45-minute voice interview it is RMB 148.5 per person against Trooly’s USD 99 end to end.

2

Where the two billing structures cross

Trooly

A flat per-session price wins in long interviews, bring-your-own setups and low-label scenarios: USD 10 for anything under 30 minutes is about RMB 71, while WeJot reaches RMB 95.7 at 29 minutes. The shorter the interview and the more labels involved, the more likely linear pricing exceeds a flat rate.

WeJot

WeJot is strongest on long, end-to-end interviews: RMB 148.5 against RMB 708 at 45 minutes, and RMB 283.5 against RMB 708 with a 20-30% prevalence filter. Even at an extreme label combination, a low-prevalence filter plus a premium region, we reach RMB 857.25, still below Trooly’s USD 199 hard-to-recruit tier at roughly RMB 1,423.

3

Interview mechanics: both are serious

Trooly

Trooly is a voice-agent product, emphasising 45-minute interviews, layered follow-up and an interaction accuracy claim of 97% validated across 20,000+ interactions. Its depth and automation rank near the front of this category.

WeJot

WeJot runs voice, video and text, and adds three engineering details: sessions resume at the break point, the camera is read so the agent sees actions and expression, and emotion analysis turns pace, pauses and expression into retrievable evidence. All three bear directly on completion rates and usable evidence in long interviews.

4

Sample: global respondents, or mainland China

Trooly

Trooly’s sample strength is overseas: 180M+ respondents across 25 countries and eight regions, with recruitment and incentives bundled end to end, which suits depth interviews in Western markets.

WeJot

WeJot is the reverse. The self-owned mainland pool holds more than five million users and respondent authenticity has been verified through video interview work, with overseas coverage from connected international panels. For mainland audiences there is little overlap, and cross-market studies can combine both panels.

5

A guarantee we cannot match yet

Trooly

Trooly states plainly that respondents failing quality checks are replaced at no cost. For buyers that is real risk transfer, especially where respondents are expensive.

WeJot

WeJot excludes invalid completes and negotiates replacements per project, but this is not a published commitment. It is worth asking us directly during procurement; we answer case by case.

Why choose WeJot over Trooly?

The questions that arise most often during an evaluation, answered directly.

An end-to-end depth interview at a fraction of the price

The two billing structures differ: Trooly charges a flat rate per session or per person, with recruitment and incentives bundled end to end, while WeJot bills per minute with label tiers on top. For the same 45-minute voice interview it is RMB 148.5 against USD 99 end to end.

A study usually needs both ends

Trooly is an interview platform: it answers how to complete a depth interview faster and cheaper, not how common something is in a population. That needs a survey, with an entirely different cost structure. WeJot runs both on one sample: the survey reaches the population cheaply and screens who deserves depth, then the interview explains the why, with both evidence types in one traceable report.

Completion and evidence quality in long interviews

The same seven items, all supported by WeJot: languages, voice choice, interactive questions inside the interview, emotion analysis, clips by question, media shown during the interview and resumable sessions. Trooly publishes emotional tone, silence detection, concept-testing and visual-intelligence stimuli, and recorded key quotes; voice choice, interactive question types, clip export and resumption are not documented publicly.

Minute-based interviews, end to end

Interviews are priced linearly by the minute with label and screening tiers added, and the quote is visible before ordering: the same 45-minute end-to-end interview costs RMB 148.5 with us. Sample, quota and quality control are configured in the same order and settled against valid completes, and interview findings sit beside the survey data in one traceable report.

Frequently asked

Why is the price gap so wide for the same interview?

Three reasons: billing structure, with a flat per-session rate against our per-minute plus label pricing; respondent cost, since a self-owned mainland panel and an overseas panel are structurally different; and delivery scope. At 45 minutes end to end it is RMB 148.5 against RMB 707.85, but the respondents are not the same people, so compare price and population together.

Can you run interviews with overseas respondents?

Yes, through connected international panels with AI interviews in more than ten languages and multilingual questionnaires. One caveat: overseas incentives are markedly higher than domestic ones, so unit prices are assessed per market rather than inheriting domestic incentive ratios.

Can the survey and the interview really share respondents?

Yes. The same pool answers the survey first, an opt-in question marks who is willing, and those people are invited directly. Both data sets live in one project, so interview conclusions can be split by the survey segmentation fields without re-alignment.

Do you offer a free-replacement commitment?

Not as a published commitment. Excluding invalid completes is the default, and free replacement is agreed per project based on scale and audience difficulty. It is worth asking us directly; we give a specific answer.

Do we get the raw interview material?

Yes. Recordings, transcripts and per-question clips stay in the project, and every conclusion in the report links back to the answer behind it; survey data exports to Excel, SPSS and similar, with deliverables produced as Word, Excel, PPT, PDF or HTML on request.
